The process of GIB stopping includes several steps:
Preparation: Before applying the plaster, the surface of the plasterboard is usually prepared by taping joints, filling gaps, and ensuring the board is clean and free from dust or debris.
Application of Plaster: A thin layer of plaster or joint compound is then applied to the surface using a trowel or similar tool. This layer helps to conceal joints, imperfections, and irregularities in the board, creating a seamless finish.
Smoothing and Finishing: The plaster is smoothed and feathered out to ensure an even surface. Skilled tradespeople often perform this step to achieve a professional, flawless finish.
Sanding and Priming: Once the plaster is dry, it may require sanding to further smoothen the surface. Afterward, the wall is typically primed before painting or wallpapering.
We can carry out plastering and skimming to Level 4 which creates a refined surface suitable for most commercial and residential spaces for final decorating / painting.
